NATIVE PLANT INVENTORY

Understanding the natural features of your site, including soil conditions, moisture, and amount of sunlight, will help you to select species most suited for your location.

A great place to start is to take an inventory of native species currently growing in and around your site. This will provide a great indication of how you can enhance that natural community.

Shaded areas of your yard may make for great woodland gardens with ferns and woodland spring flowers.

A sunny and dry area of your yard is a great place for a butterfly and hummingbird garden.

We grow species native to eastern and central North America with a focus on Eastern Ontario, the southern Great Lakes region and the Carolinian zone. All species we grow are hardy to our zone, benefit our local environment and are of benefit to wildlife.  We are working on updating all of plant profiles over the winter with extended information about natural habitats as well as natural and historical range information to help you be the most informed when selecting for your particular planting project.
